Türkiye seals deal with US for F-16 jets procurement
Türkiye has inked the deal with the United States to procure F-16 fighter planes, said sources in the Ministry of National Defense, adding that negotiations between both delegations to finalize the details are underway.
Addressing questions from the journalists after the weekly press briefing, sources responded to inquiries regarding the latest developments in US F-16 procurement.
“Contracts have been signed, and discussions to finalize the details are ongoing between mutual delegations. Details and decisions resulting from these discussions will be shared with the public later,” said sources.
The sources also responded to a question regarding the so-called local elections announced and subsequently postponed by the terrorist organization PKK in northern Syria. “Previously, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar warned against holding these elections. We had emphasized that rather than postponement, these so-called elections should be completely canceled.”
“The attempts by terrorist organizations to hold these so-called elections are contrary to UN Security Council Resolution 2254 and Syria’s territorial integrity. We reiterate our call for not postponing but completely canceling these elections,” the sources maintained.
