Türkiye's exports to China saw a significant increase of 51% in July, reaching $312.9 million, according to data from the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM).

This surge comes as China continues to show strong interest in the Turkish market, exemplified by the investment of BYD, the world's largest electric vehicle manufacturer.

BYD's investment boosts Turkish exports

The agreement between BYD and the Turkish Ministry of Industry and Technology, which involves an estimated $1 billion investment in Türkiye, includes the establishment of a production facility with an annual capacity of 150,000 vehicles and a mobility research and development center.

This move underscores China's growing demand for Turkish products and supports the ongoing increase in Turkish exports to China.

China also emerged as Türkiye's 16th largest export destination in July. The monthly export figure marked a 37.5% increase from June, and exports to China from January to July rose by 11.6% year-over-year, totaling $1.8 billion.

Other notable sectors included chemicals and chemical products with $63.9 million, iron and non-ferrous metals at $9.6 million, textiles and raw materials $8.2 million and electrical and electronics $6.5 million.

For the January-July period, mining products continued to dominate with $992.2 million in exports to China.

Additionally, Türkiye exported $312.2 million in chemicals, $93.3 million in iron and non-ferrous metals, $73.6 million in textiles and raw materials, and $51.5 million in hazelnuts and related products to China.
