The United States has made a statement regarding the normalization process between Türkiye and Syria, saying that "Washington does not support these normalization efforts."

The statement comes amid developments regarding the normalization process in Turkish-Syrian relations, as the meeting between the two countries is expected to take place soon.

According to reports, a U.S. State Department official emphasized they are closely monitoring the situation, stating, "We are seeing reports of normalization between Türkiye and Syria. The U.S. does not support these normalization efforts."

The U.S. statement comes after President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced plans for a meeting with Syrian President Bashar Assad.

Erdogan has tasked Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan with overseeing the process to normalize relations between the two countries.
