Chinese President Xi Jinping said Friday that China is ready to strengthen mining cooperation with African countries as he hosted Namibian President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah in Beijing, state news agency Xinhua reported.
Xi said China wants to continue cooperation with African countries based on mutual benefit, win-win cooperation, friendly consultation and new approaches.
"China stands ready to work with Africa to explore new approaches to cooperation in accordance with market-oriented and commercial principles, with a view to upgrading the quality of China-Africa cooperation in the mining sector," Xi said.
Xi said helping Africa develop its abundant mineral resources and turn its resource advantage into development momentum is an important way to accelerate the continent’s modernization.

Xi also called on China and Namibia to strengthen solidarity and coordination to safeguard multilateralism.
He said Beijing is willing to work with African countries to "enhance the strength and voice of the Global South, and make new contributions to building a community with a shared future for humanity."
Xi urged China and Namibia to maintain close communication, expand cooperation and make full use of Namibia's zero-tariff access and other preferential policies.
The Chinese president called for stronger cooperation with Namibia in infrastructure, energy, mining, agriculture, education, youth, science and technology.
The talks in Beijing focused on expanding cooperation across multiple sectors, with mining and development among the central themes.
Nandi-Ndaitwah welcomed greater Chinese investment and expressed hope for stronger cooperation with China in several areas.
She cited industry, mining, infrastructure, aviation, space, science and technology, agriculture, and water resources as areas where Namibia seeks stronger cooperation.
After the talks, the two sides signed several cooperation agreements covering economy and trade, healthcare, education, and human resources.
