The death toll from monsoon rains that have battered Pakistan since June 26 has risen to 985, with 1,062 others reported injured.

Severe rainfall across the country has triggered widespread flooding, landslides, and infrastructure damage.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province suffered the highest fatalities, with 504 deaths recorded.

Punjab reported 287 deaths, Sindh 80, Gilgit-Baltistan 41, Azad Kashmir 38, Balochistan 26, and the capital Islamabad nine.

In Punjab alone, over 2 million people have been evacuated as authorities reported that more than 4,700 villages were affected by floods. The overflowing Chenab River submerged 2,475 villages, while the Ravi River inundated 1,458 villages.

Overall, approximately 4.5 million people in Punjab have been affected by the floods.

The monsoon season has caused sudden flash floods, house collapses, landslides, and other rain-related disasters, intensifying the humanitarian crisis across Pakistan.
