Pro-Israeli group attacks Gaza solidarity camp at California University
Masked attackers, allegedly supporters of Israel, launch a violent assault on a Gaza solidarity camp at California University as security forces remain conspicuously absent
A masked group of pro-Israel individuals attacked the Gaza Solidarity Camp set up by pro-Palestinian students at the University of California while there were no security personnel present in the area.
According to local journalists, the attackers, many with their faces concealed and armed with clubs, targeted the camp, attempting to break down barricades and hurling objects, including water bottles, at Palestinian supporters.
Some of the assailants physically assaulted students and hurled insults at the demonstrators.
‘No police’
What’s particularly striking about the incident is the absence of security personnel, including police, in the area at the time of the attack.
Journalist Sergio Olmos shared the moment on social media and commented: “I’ve been watching this fight at California University for an hour now. There is no police response.”
This lack of intervention extends beyond the attack itself, as U.S. police, despite being present, refrain from intervening for over an hour, even as peaceful protesters and faculty members are later detained.
Furthermore, footage circulating on social media reveals Israeli supporters launching fireworks at the Gaza solidarity camp, adding another layer of aggression to the already volatile situation.
