Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that discussion of a new round of negotiations with Ukraine will take place, but there is no precise understanding at the moment.

"Of course, now, depending on how the situation develops, there should, in theory, be discussion about continuation and about the next round of negotiations. So far there are no precise understandings on this matter," Peskov said, responding to journalists' question about whether Russia will provide a written response to the Ukrainian memorandum, or whether a new meeting of delegations from both countries will be needed.

Second round of Russia-Ukraine negotiations held in Türkiye

The second round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine took place on June 2 in Türkiye. The meeting at Ciragan Palace in Istanbul lasted more than an hour. At the meeting, the sides exchanged memorandums on conflict settlement.

As reported following the negotiations by the head of the Russian delegation Vladimir Medinsky, Russia and Ukraine agreed on a large-scale prisoner exchange: the sick and seriously wounded will be exchanged on an "all for all" basis, and prisoners under 25 years of age will also be exchanged. The overall ceiling of the exchange will be at least 1,000 people.

In addition, the sides agreed on ceasefire in separate areas so that bodies of the dead could be collected.

Kremlin aide Vladimir Medinsky said on Saturday that the Russian side had shown up at the agreed exchange point with the bodies of 1,212 Ukrainian dead soldiers only to find nobody from Ukraine to take them.

Ukrainian officials rejected those accusations and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy vowed on Sunday to press on with prisoner exchanges despite tensions around the issue.

He said though that Ukraine had not yet received a full list of prisoners to be released and accused Moscow of "trying to play some kind of dirty political and information game."
