U.S. President Donald Trump issued a sharply worded Thanksgiving message on his Truth Social platform, criticizing U.S. immigration policies, political leaders, and the country’s handling of refugee populations.

In his post, Trump claimed that the United States has been “divided, disrupted, carved up, murdered, beaten, mugged, and laughed at” due to what he called “politically correct” and “stupid” approaches to immigration.

Claims about foreign-born population

Trump cited census data, saying the U.S. foreign-born population stands at 53 million, alleging that many migrants come from “failed nations,” prisons, gangs, drug cartels, or mental institutions.

He also claimed that most are dependent on welfare and are supported by American taxpayers who “do not want to openly complain.”

According to Trump’s statement, “a migrant earning $30,000 with a green card will get roughly $50,000 in yearly benefits for their family.”

He argued that the “refugee burden” has become the “leading cause of social dysfunction in America,” linking it to failed schools, crime, urban decay, overcrowded hospitals, housing shortages, and deficits.

Minnesota and Somali refugee criticism

Trump singled out Minnesota as an example, alleging that “hundreds of thousands of refugees from Somalia” are “taking over” the state.

He claimed that “Somalian gangs are roving the streets,” saying residents remain locked in their homes.

He criticized Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, calling him “seriously retarded,” and accused him of inaction “through fear, incompetence, or both.”

Attack on Rep. Ilhan Omar

Trump targeted Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar, calling her “the worst ‘Congressman/woman’ in our Country.”

He referenced her wearing a hijab and made allegations about her immigration background, claiming she “probably came into the U.S.A. illegally” by “marrying your brother.”

He accused Omar of complaining “hatefully” about the United States and contrasted this with his characterization of Somalia as “a decadent, backward, and crime ridden nation.”

Trump’s post did not include policy proposals but reiterated themes he has highlighted in previous statements about immigration and refugee issues.
