Venezuela's death toll from two major earthquakes that struck the country on June 24 has risen to 3,342, officials said.

National Assembly (AN) Speaker Jorge Rodriguez shared the latest figures via social media, providing an update on the disaster's aftermath.

Rodriguez said the number of injured has reached 16,740. He added that 6,462 people have been rescued from rubble to date, while 17,345 people have lost their homes. A total of 79 temporary shelters have been set up to house displaced residents.

Authorities have delivered aid to 86,794 families, Rodriguez said, noting that 9,585 tons of food and 669,008 liters of water have reached those affected.

A combined 29,567 military and police personnel have been deployed to the affected areas, according to Rodríguez, alongside 27,482 volunteers.

Local media reported that authorities have set up a phone line and digital platform for families to report missing persons, though officials have not released updated figures on the number of people unaccounted for.

A civil initiative called "Venezuela Earthquake Missing" (Desaparecidos Terremoto Venezuela) has logged more than 31,000 reports of missing persons on its website so far.

'Two major earthquakes struck Venezuela'

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reported that two earthquakes, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude, struck Venezuela on June 24, 39 seconds apart.

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) estimated on June 26 that the direct physical damage from the earthquakes totals $6.7 billion.

Search and rescue operations continue across the country, with concerns rising over the increasing death and injury tolls.
