Türkiye exported 3,286 tons of anchovies worth $10.9 million in the first seven months of 2026, with export volume jumping 75% year over year and export value rising 27%, according to industry data.
Belgium was the top market among 20 countries, accounting for $2.9 million in shipments, followed by France at $2.8 million and Ukraine at $1.6 million. Türkiye also shipped anchovies to Australia, Portugal and Qatar, which were not among its export destinations during the same period last year.
Over the 12-month period, fresh and frozen anchovy exports reached $2.5 million from 2,750 tons, up 96.9% in value and 80.1% in volume year over year.
Türkiye’s seafood exports totaled $2.5 billion and 304,984 tons over the 12 months through July, accounting for 59.5% of the country’s broader seafood and animal products exports, which reached $4.2 billion during the same period, up 6.6% year over year.
Seafood export value rose 15.9% from the previous 12-month period, while volume declined 0.3%, with the average export price increasing from $6.98 to $8.11 per kilogram. In July alone, seafood exports reached $241.7 million and 30,162 tons, up 14.4% in value and 17.5% in volume from June.
Sea bream ranked as the largest export by value at $360.7 million, followed by trout weighing more than 1.2 kilograms at $354.8 million and European sea bass at $349.2 million.
Fresh or chilled sea bass fillets generated $213.5 million, while frozen sea bass fillets brought in $165.9 million, and another major trout category accounted for $146.7 million.
Tuna products also posted strong gains, generating $77.3 million from 4,423 tons, with export value up 69% and volume up 47.3% year over year. Other bluefin tuna products reached $74.2 million from 6,294 tons, with their export value rising 36.6%.
Fish oils and fractions generated $54.6 million from 14,349 tons, with export value climbing 116.5% and volume increasing 168.9%, while salted, dried or brined trout generated $40.0 million and canned tuna products brought in $35.6 million.
