British fashion retailer Topshop is set to make a return to high streets with the launch of new physical stores in August 2025, after years of operating exclusively online.

The move comes as part of a joint revival initiative following its acquisition and restructuring by Asos and Danish holding company Heartland.

Revival strategy under new ownership

Topshop, once one of the United Kingdom’s most popular clothing brands, was acquired in February 2021 by online fashion retailer Asos for £295 million ($399.16 million as of June 8, 2025).

In September 2024, Asos sold a 75% stake in these brands to Denmark’s Heartland for approximately £135 million.

The transaction established a joint venture aimed at revitalizing the labels.

In an interview with business-focused drapersonline.com, Michelle Wilson, newly appointed general manager of Topshop and Topman, confirmed that physical retail spaces would return in August, adding that the strategy involves preserving best-selling items from the Asos era—like the Jamie and Joni jeans—while modernizing the brand instead of recreating its past.

Enhanced in-store experience planned

The brand's upcoming stores are expected to mirror its former Oxford Street flagship, featuring amenities such as nail bars and piercing salons. The product range will continue to serve a broad audience, from casual wear to evening outfits.

Alongside its return to physical retail, the company also plans to launch a new online platform, Topshop.com, to enhance its digital presence.

Topshop eyes Turkish market again

Founded in 1964, Topshop had 510 stores globally in 2020 at its peak, with over 300 in the UK. However, all stores were shut down by the end of that year due to financial losses.

Topshop entered the Turkish market in the early 2000s through a partnership with Alshaya Group, which also brought in brands like Starbucks.

However, due to underwhelming revenue, the company shut down its 10 stores in Türkiye in 2016. In 2022, Türkiye was re-added to the brand’s online shopping portal, marking a partial return to the market.
