Fuel prices in Türkiye are expected to increase significantly starting midnight on Saturday, with both gasoline and diesel set to rise by more than ₺1 per liter, pushing diesel prices in some cities above ₺57 ($1.40) per liter.

The new hike follows the July 3 Special Consumption Tax adjustment and comes just a week after a previous ₺0.44 increase. Sector sources say the latest price surge is driven by Brent crude oil crossing the $70 per barrel threshold again.

Prices edging closer to all-time highs

In major cities like Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir, gasoline prices are approaching ₺55 per liter ($1.35), while diesel is crossing ₺57 ($1.40) in some areas.

Izmir52.4054.9426.33
Hakkari (Most Exp.)53.5556.09

With the latest increase, Hakkari, already the most expensive city for fuel in Türkiye, will likely see gasoline hit ₺55 and diesel exceed ₺57, equivalent to $1.40 per liter at the current exchange rate.

How are prices calculated?

Fuel prices in Türkiye are based on:

  • CIF Mediterranean product prices published daily in the Italian-Mediterranean market
  • USD/TRY exchange rate
  • Additional costs including Special Consumption Tax, EPDK margin, and VAT

These inputs determine the duty-free refinery price, to which domestic taxes and distribution margins are added to reach the final retail prices.
