German wind turbine manufacturer Enercon will establish a new rotor blade factory in Türkiye’s western Izmir province through a €50 million ($58.6 million) investment, a company executive announced Wednesday.

The company will transfer production of rotor blades for its next-generation "E-175 EP5 E2" wind turbine model to the planned facility, which will have an annual production capacity of 150 rotor blade sets in its current phase, with operations expected to begin in the fourth quarter of this year.

Plant to supply Türkiye and European markets

The facility is expected to create around 700 direct jobs while also supporting additional employment through regional suppliers and partner companies. Production will initially target the Turkish market before expanding to supply projects across Eastern and Southern Europe in the coming years.

Speaking during the Rotor Blade Factory Press Launch held as part of the 15th Türkiye Wind Energy Congress, Enercon chief operating officer and board member Heiko Juritz said the new facility would help the company meet domestic-content requirements in Türkiye’s onshore wind energy tenders.

Juritz noted that the investment would strengthen competitiveness in renewable energy projects while contributing to the country’s growing clean energy ecosystem.

"We have been operating in Türkiye for more than 30 years and are continuing our localization strategy with determination," he stated.

Enercon reaches quarter of Türkiye wind capacity

Juritz described Türkiye as one of Enercon's most important strategic markets, emphasizing that local production of the company’s newest turbine technology reflected long-term confidence in the country.

The E-175 EP5 E2, considered Enercon's flagship turbine model, has an installed capacity of 7 megawatts and a rotor diameter of 175 meters, making it one of Europe’s highest-efficiency onshore wind turbines.

The model plays a central role in the company’s global expansion strategy and has also attracted significant demand in Türkiye, he explained, adding that Enercon recently signed new supply agreements with Turkish customers covering more than 370 megawatts of total capacity.

According to the company, Enercon has installed more than 32,000 wind turbines in over 50 countries worldwide, representing more than 60 gigawatts of total installed capacity.

In Türkiye alone, the company’s installed capacity reached 4 gigawatts as of 2026, accounting for roughly a quarter of the country’s total installed wind energy capacity.
