Istanbul Airport has once again topped the ranking as Europe's busiest airport, according to Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu, who reported a daily average of 1,665 flights at the hub.
In a written statement, Uraloglu evaluated the European Aviation Overview Report dated Aug. 20, published by the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL).
Uraloglu noted that, according to the report, Türkiye ranked sixth among the countries with the highest traffic volume in Europe during the Aug. 10-16 period, with a daily average of 4,400 flights, adding that Türkiye surpassed countries such as Greece, Poland, the Netherlands and Portugal.
Uraloglu highlighted that Istanbul Airport once again became Europe's busiest airport, with a daily average of 1,665 flights, stating: "Istanbul Airport has surpassed Paris Charles de Gaulle, Amsterdam and London Heathrow airports. Our Antalya Airport, meanwhile, became Europe's ninth busiest airport with a daily average of 1,037 flights."
Uraloglu noted that among 25 airports worldwide, Istanbul Airport recorded a daily average of 843 aircraft departures between Aug. 10 and 16, ranking sixth globally in this respect.
