U.S.-based fast-food chain Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) has signed a new franchise agreement in Türkiye with local operator HD Holding, which plans to relaunch and expand the restaurant network with the first outlets set to open by the end of 2025.
The partnership follows Yum! Brands’ decision in late 2024 to terminate its franchise deal with Is Gida, which had managed all KFC and Pizza Hut outlets in Türkiye. Yum! Brands had said the termination was due to Is Gida’s failure to meet operational standards, a move that led to the closure of 283 KFC and 254 Pizza Hut restaurants across the country.
According to a statement from HD Holding on Thursday, the cooperation is designed not only to reinforce the KFC brand in Türkiye but also to create new jobs, support local business partners, and contribute to the growth of the restaurant sector.
KFC, which has operated in Türkiye since 1989, expects the agreement with HD Holding to contribute to its restructuring efforts and improve customer experience nationwide.
With more than 30 years of experience in the food and beverage sector, HD Holding operates over 300 restaurants under its own brands, including HD Iskender, Pidem, and Makarnam.
The company said its expertise in managing large-scale operations would support KFC’s expansion across the country.
