French automaker Renault is preparing to start manufacturing a new Dacia-branded SUV at its plant in northernwestern province of Bursa, Türkiye, expanding output under a previously announced €400 million ($474.58 million) investment program.

The vehicle will become the second model produced in Bursa, carrying the Dacia badge, with production scheduled to begin before the end of the year. Technical specifications and segment details have not yet been disclosed, and the company is expected to release further information at a later stage.

Renault scales up Bursa production under €400M plan

Renault and its Turkish partner, Oyak, announced the €400 million investment in December 2023 to expand manufacturing capacity and diversify production at the Bursa plant. The first two models linked to the investment were the Renault Duster and Renault Boreal.

The factory already produces the Duster for multiple markets. The model is assembled with Renault branding for Türkiye and regions outside Europe, while Dacia-branded versions are also produced in Bursa for European markets when the Romanian plant cannot meet demand.

Oyak Renault’s manufacturing plant in Bursa produced a total of 387,113 vehicles in 2025, closing the year with strong production volume. During the same period, exports increased by around 14% compared with the previous year, reaching 271,994 units.

Renault targets 14.5% market share

Bahaettin Tatoglu, chairman and general manager of Renault's official distributor in Türkiye, MAIS, said production of the Renault Boreal at the Bursa plant in 2026 is expected to contribute positively to sales performance.

Tatoglu said the company closed 2025 as the leader in the automotive market and outlined further goals tied to the SUV segment and commercial vehicles.

"For me, the most important thing was that the Duster regained leadership in December with its new engine options," Tatoglu told Haberturk. "One of our key goals in 2026 is to reach leadership in the SUV segment. We also want to increase our market share in light commercial vehicles during the year. We have set our target at 14.5% market share."

He also indicated that the overall automotive market momentum seen in 2025 is expected to continue into 2026 at a similar pace.
