Sabanci Renewables, a wholly owned subsidiary of Turkish industrial conglomerate Sabanci Holding, has entered into a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Meta covering two solar projects under development in Texas, further expanding the company's presence in the U.S. renewable energy market.
Under the agreement, Meta will acquire 100% of the environmental attributes generated by the Lucky 7 Solar and Pepper Solar projects, including renewable energy credits (RECs) and other clean-energy benefits associated with the electricity produced by the facilities.
The projects have a combined capacity of 220 MWac (286 MWdc), comprising the 100 MWac (130 MWdc) Lucky 7 Solar project and the 120 MWac (156 MWdc) Pepper Solar project. Both facilities are expected to be completed in the second half of 2027 and form part of Sabanci Renewables' growing utility-scale renewable energy portfolio in the U.S, the company said.
The projects are expected to support more than 600 jobs during construction and create long-term employment opportunities once operational.
"Entering into a long-term renewable energy agreement with Meta is an important step for Sabanci Renewables as we continue to grow our presence in the United States," Tolga Kaan Dogancioglu, Strategic Investments and Operations president of the Sabanci Group, said.
"For Sabanci Renewables, it also marks another strategic milestone in our U.S. market journey and reinforces our focus on building durable partnerships with institutional and corporate off-takers."
Meta said the agreement supports the development of new renewable energy resources in Texas.
"We're excited to support the development of the Lucky 7 and Pepper solar projects, which together will add new solar capacity to the Texas grid," Amanda Yang, head of Clean and Renewable Energy at Meta, said.
"This long-term agreement with Sabanci Renewables reflects the kind of partnerships we value—ones that bring meaningful new energy resources online."
Sabanci Renewables is the U.S. renewable energy platform of Sabanci Holding, one of Türkiye's largest conglomerates.
Operating under Sabanci Climate Technologies, the company develops, owns and operates utility-scale solar, battery storage and onshore wind assets.
The company has focused its expansion on Texas, where the 272 MWdc Cutlass II and 232 MWdc Oriana solar plants are already operational.
Oriana also includes a 60 MW battery energy storage system, making it one of Sabanci Renewables' first integrated solar and storage investments in the country.
The company is targeting a 3 GW renewable energy portfolio in the United States by 2030 through further investments in solar, wind and energy storage, building on Sabanci Holding's broader energy business, which operates more than 4 GW of power generation capacity in Türkiye.
