Spotify will establish its first office in Türkiye by opening an Istanbul location in 2026, Turkish Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy announced following meetings with the global music streaming platform.
The music streaming giant's decision to open a Turkish office addresses what Ersoy described as "an important deficiency" and will deepen collaboration between Spotify and Türkiye's music industry.
Ersoy shared the announcement on his social media account, stating that important decisions were made during meetings with Spotify, one of the leaders in the global music industry.
"An important deficiency, the Spotify Türkiye office, is opening. Spotify, which will open an office in Istanbul in 2026, will further deepen collaborations in this field," Ersoy said.
The minister indicated that concrete progress would be made in the short term to ensure Türkiye's music ecosystem receives the support it deserves from Spotify.
Ersoy outlined plans for increased cooperation between Spotify officials and Turkish music industry representatives.
"We will put on the table how to take joint steps with company officials and our music industry representatives. We expect important results from the Music Summit we will open in Istanbul in September," Ersoy said.
The minister emphasized the platform's role in supporting young talent and female artists through this strengthened partnership.
Ersoy highlighted the international success of Turkish artists on the platform, noting significant growth in global reach.
"The global success of Turkish artists broke records on world charts by reaching 2.8 billion new listeners in 2024. Now more than half of royalty revenues come from listeners outside Türkiye," Ersoy said.
The minister described the partnership as beneficial for Türkiye's cultural diplomacy efforts.
"This strong collaboration, which will also support young talents and female artists, will give new momentum to our cultural diplomacy. We will continue to work closely with the Spotify team in this and similar steps that will introduce Türkiye's rich musical heritage and culture to the world," Ersoy said.
