Three Türkiye-origin business figures have made it onto Manager Magazin's 2026 ranking of Germany's 500 wealthiest people, families and companies, with BioNTech founders Ozlem Tureci and Ugur Sahin and Auto1 co-founder Hakan Koc appearing on the list.
Tureci and Sahin, who became globally known during the coronavirus pandemic through BioNTech's vaccine development, ranked 71st with an estimated combined fortune of €3.8 billion ($4.28 billion).
The couple's estimated wealth stood at €4 billion in last year's ranking, meaning their fortune has fallen by around €200 million.
Tureci and Sahin have also decided to hand over BioNTech and move forward with a new company named Arife.
Meanwhile, Hakan Koc, co-founder of Berlin-based used-car sales platform Auto1, also joined the ranking alongside his business partner Christian Bertermann.
The pair placed 200th with an estimated combined fortune of €1.2 billion.
The Boehringer family, owners of pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim, topped the ranking with an estimated fortune of €66.7 billion.
Lidl owner Dieter Schwarz followed with €53.7 billion, while the Merck family ranked third with €50.7 billion.
BMW shareholders Susanne Klatten and Stefan Quandt came in fourth, followed by the Albrecht and Heister families, owners of supermarket chain Aldi, whose combined wealth was estimated at €29 billion.
