Türkiye's electric vehicle (EV) market has surged, with the number of registered electric vehicles quadrupling in the past year. This rise is driven in part by the growing popularity of the domestically produced Togg T10X, which has emerged as the top-selling EV in the country amid ongoing consumer concerns over the driving range.
Türkiye's EV market has witnessed a remarkable transformation, with the number of registered EVs skyrocketing by 3,904% over the past year, reaching 131,217 as of August 2024.
Including hybrid vehicles, the total number of electric motor vehicles on the roads has soared to around 450,000, highlighting a significant shift in the country's automotive landscape.
By August 2024, nearly 40 different 100% electric car models were available in the market, offered by approximately 20 automotive manufacturers.
The vehicles with the highest gross battery capacities were:
Fastest EV: The Porsche Taycan Turbo S holds the title for the fastest acceleration, reaching 0-100 kilometers per hour in just 2.4 seconds.
Affordable EV: The Dacia Spring is the most affordable EV, priced at ₺892,000 ($26,219.69).
Despite the rapid growth in the market, consumer concerns about driving range persist. According to a recent survey by Şarjagel.com, the "Electric Vehicle Consumer Trends Report" highlighted that a significant portion of consumers believe that an EV needs to have a range of at least 800 kilometers to be considered for purchase.
Moreover, 80% of respondents emphasized that charging from zero to full should take no longer than 30 minutes.
However, currently, no EVs available in Türkiye offer a range exceeding 700 kilometers, underscoring the ongoing challenge of range anxiety among potential buyers.
