Turkish Airlines (THY) announced it has expanded its existing codeshare agreement with Air China, signed at the opening ceremony of the 4th China Air Transport Association (CATA) Aviation Conference and Exhibition in Beijing.

According to a statement from THY's Communications Directorate, the codeshare partnership, originally launched in June 2024 under a free-sale model covering Istanbul-Beijing flights, has been expanded under the new agreement to cover all direct mainline flights between Türkiye and China.

New routes added on both sides

The expanded cooperation now includes select Chinese domestic flights connecting through Beijing, as well as select international flights operating through Istanbul.

Under the agreement, THY passengers will be able to travel with connections through Beijing to destinations across mainland China, including Shenzhen, Chongqing, Xiamen, Hangzhou, Nanjing and Qingdao.

Air China passengers, meanwhile, will be able to connect through Istanbul to Ankara, as well as to destinations across THY's network including Accra, Lagos, Marrakech, Dar es Salaam, Algiers and Tunis in Africa, and Cancun and Mexico City in Latin America.

Tickets to be issued under a single booking

The expanded codeshare will allow flights operated by both airlines to be offered under a single ticket. THY and Air China, both members of the Star Alliance, said the agreement aims to increase connectivity and transfer options between their hub airports.

The two carriers said they plan to incorporate new direct routes planned between Türkiye and China into the codeshare partnership as they come online in the future.
