Türkiye’s flag carrier, Turkish Airlines, has finalized a financing agreement with Bank of China for a five-year loan worth 2.9 billion Chinese yuan ($408.5 million) to support its fleet expansion, infrastructure development at Istanbul Airport, and investments in new facilities and growth projects.

According to a company statement, the transaction was coordinated by Bank of China Türkiye, with the bank’s Macau branch serving as the credit provider. Turkish Airlines said the agreement reflects its commitment to diversifying funding sources and aligns with its sustainable and globally inclusive growth strategy.

The statement emphasized that the new credit deal marks a milestone in Türkiye–China financial cooperation and aligns with both nations’ long-term strategic goals, reinforcing collaboration between their banking and aviation sectors.

Commenting on the agreement, Turkish Airlines’ Deputy General Manager for Finance and Member of the Board of Directors, Murat Seker, said the airline was pleased to deepen its cooperation with Bank of China.

"As Turkish Airlines, we see our trust-based partnerships with leading international institutions such as the Bank of China as a great asset in line with our sustainable growth and global expansion goals," he said. "This financing not only strengthens our financial structure but also contributes to the development of economic and cultural ties between Türkiye and China."

The company announced in late September that it has ordered 225 Boeing aircraft — 150 firm and 75 optional — as it aims to expand its fleet to 813 aircraft by 2033.
