Sahterm Group, a leading resistance and heating element producer from Türkiye, has launched construction of its first overseas facility in North Macedonia’s Skopje Free Zone with an initial investment of €25 million ($27.9 million).
North Macedonia’s Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony held in the Skopje Free Zone on Saturday, said the factory will employ 200 people in the first phase.
He noted that the project is expected to grow to €50 million and create more than 500 jobs.
The prime minister described the investment as “a contribution not only to capital inflow but also to Macedonia’s export capacity and economic stability.”
Türkiye’s Ambassador to Skopje, Fatih Ulusoy, welcomed the move, highlighting that Turkish firms already provide around 10,000 jobs in the country. He emphasized that this new factory will further strengthen bilateral economic ties.
RUMELISIAD President Murat Evke called the investment “a symbol of Türkiye–North Macedonia cooperation,” praising the country’s strategic location and investor-friendly climate.
Sahterm Chairman Faruk Sahin explained that the company chose North Macedonia after feasibility studies in several countries. Stressing that the factory will focus entirely on exports, he said, “If current support continues, we will expand this into a €100 million complex employing 1,000 people within five years.”
The ceremony concluded with a plaque presented to Prime Minister Mickoski, followed by the official groundbreaking.
