Turkish honey exports generated $23.4 million in revenue during the first nine months of the year, a 3% increase compared to the same period in 2024, according to data from the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association.
Türkiye exported honey to 46 countries during the January-September period, with the United States, Germany and the United Kingdom serving as the top three markets, according to information compiled by a state-run Anadolu Agency (AA) reporter from Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association data.
Revenue from honey exports, recorded at $22.7 million in the first nine months of 2024, increased 3% to $23.4 million during the same period this year.
Honey exports reached 6,527 tons in the nine months, an 11% increase from 5,866 tons during the same period last year.
Türkiye sold $8.5 million worth of honey to the United States, $3.8 million to Germany and $2.5 million to the United Kingdom during the January-September period.
Honey ranks among Türkiye's important agricultural products in terms of production and export.
Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association Board of Directors Chairman Saffet Kalyoncu told the AA reporter on Sunday that the increase in honey exports is gratifying for the sector.
Kalyoncu said the data demonstrates the reliability and preferability of Turkish honey in the international market.
"Strengthening our presence in existing markets is an important success for our sector, and the fact that we exported honey to seven more countries this year compared to last year shows that our strategies to increase market diversity are on the right track," Kalyoncu said.
Kalyoncu emphasized that expectations from exports are high, stating: "We have entered the last quarter of the year. During this period, we accelerated our efforts to meet demand in our export markets and to gain access to new markets. As of the end of the year, we aim to exceed last year in terms of both quantity and value."
"In cooperation with our sector stakeholders, we will continue to take steps that will make a difference, especially in high-value-added products and branded exports," Kalyoncu said.
Kalyoncu lastly noted that they are conducting target market analyses to increase export potential, adding: "With our work supporting R&D and a quality-oriented production approach, we aim to bring Turkish honey to higher ranks worldwide."
