Fruit and vegetables get cheaper

Prices for beef mince, beef cubes and chicken rose in September, while lamb prices saw no significant change. Among dairy products, yogurt prices increased, while average milk prices remained largely unchanged and cheese prices stayed broadly stable.

Fish prices fell somewhat as the fishing season began, while egg prices also declined. Prices for chickpeas and green lentils remained largely unchanged, but dried beans became somewhat more expensive.

Some fruit and vegetable prices declined in September as seasonal conditions changed and autumn produce started appearing at markets, the report noted.

The average price of vegetables reached ₺124.89 per kilogram, excluding salad greens such as parsley and lettuce that are typically used alongside main dishes. The average fruit price stood at ₺133.75 per kilogram, while the overall average for fruit and vegetables was ₺118 per kilogram.
