The 14th edition of the Leather and Fur Fashion Show, organized by the Turkish Leather Garment Manufacturers Association (TDKD), has brought together 1,500 foreign buyers and 60 Turkish companies this week in the southern resort town of Belek, Antalya.
Hosted in a prominent hotel within the Serik district’s tourism zone, the show marks a pivotal gathering point for Türkiye’s leather and fur apparel sector, fostering direct business contacts and international exposure.
As the global economy navigates shifting supply chains and market uncertainties, the Turkish leather industry is betting on face-to-face trade shows to revitalize exports.
The event has attracted purchasing committees from more than 20 countries, including high-level brand representatives from the United States, Germany, France, Ireland, Colombia, and Canada. The show is supported by Türkiye’s Trade Ministry and organized in partnership with the Istanbul Leather and Leather Products Exporters’ Association (IDMIB).
TDKD President Cengiz Sarigul said the show has already shown signs of vitality and is expected to generate a significant trade volume.
“With the return orders following this show, we anticipate a trade turnover reaching $100 million,” Sarigul noted, adding that the event continues to grow each year both in scale and diversity. He emphasized that the show serves as a lifeline for the sector by helping local producers gain access to global markets.
Sarigul also underlined that collaboration with IDMIB has expanded the show’s reach. “We have consistently elevated the scope of our event, expanded our customer base, and enriched its variety,” he said.
IDMIB Chairman Guven Karaca highlighted the importance of attracting buyers from distant markets, stating that this year’s show has successfully achieved that target. “Our goal was to bring in clients from far-reaching countries.
That’s why we focused on the U.S., Canada, Colombia, and various European markets,” Karaca said.
He also stressed that the role of their sector is to bridge sellers and buyers in ways that ultimately contribute to the national economy. “We believe this event has been productive in advancing our export objectives,” Karaca added.
The Leather and Fur Fashion Show will run until May 21, offering local exporters more opportunities to showcase their products and secure deals with international buyers.
