The Türkiye-Egypt Chambers and Commodity Exchanges Cooperation Forum was held Monday in Egypt, bringing together about 200 representatives from Türkiye and more than 100 from Egypt.
The forum was held through cooperation between the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) and the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (FEDCOC).
The forum, one of the most widely attended business meetings organized between Türkiye and Egypt, took place at the Turkish Rixos Hotel in the coastal city of El Alamein in northern Egypt.
Around 200 heads and officials of trade, industry and commodity exchanges from Türkiye attended the forum, along with more than 100 representatives from Egypt's business community.
The Turkish delegation was led by TOBB President Rifat Hisarciklioglu, while the Egyptian delegation was headed by FEDCOC President Ahmed el-Wekil.
Türkiye's ambassador to Cairo, Salih Mutlu Sen, also traveled from Cairo to El Alamein to take part in the event.
Delivering the opening address, Egyptian Finance Minister Ahmed Kucuk said the country has recently recorded positive commercial and economic developments, stressing that Egypt is open to trade and economic cooperation with Turkish businesspeople.
Speaking at the forum, TOBB President Hisarciklioglu and FEDCOC President el-Wekil underscored the importance of promoting trade, economic, industrial and technological cooperation between the two countries.
Both emphasized that Türkiye and Egypt will continue to rank among each other's most important trade and industrial partners in the coming period.
In his remarks, Türkiye's ambassador to Cairo Salih Mutlu Sen said Egypt has entered a significant recovery process in terms of macroeconomic balances in recent years and now has a strong macroeconomic structure.
Sen said Egypt's economic governance in the fields of finance, foreign trade and investment, industry, transportation and international cooperation is qualified and outward-looking.
He added that Turkish businesspeople receive a positive response from political authorities in Egypt and that doors are always open to them.
Sen said contracting, energy, tourism, trade and the economy will be the main areas of cooperation between Turkiye and Egypt in the coming period.
He said the number of Turkish tourists visiting Egypt in 2025 has approached 400,000 and could reach 500,000 in the coming years.
He also recalled that Egyptian tourist visits to Türkiye reached 350,000 in 2022, noting that it is possible to reach that figure again.
Sen added that another business forum will be held as part of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's planned visit to Egypt in the coming days, stressing that the visit will be the most comprehensive delegation trip ever made from Türkiye to Egypt, with the participation of trade and economic delegations.
