Boeing Global President Brendan Nelson stated on Tuesday that Türkiye is much more than a market for Boeing, describing it as a strategic partner, a strong source of talent, and a country that inspires the company daily with its aviation vision.

"Türkiye is much more than a market for Boeing; a strategic partner, a very strong source of talent, and a country that inspires us every day with its aviation vision," Nelson said.

Boeing celebrated its 80th year in Türkiye in Istanbul with an event marking a significant milestone of cooperation, innovation, and long-term commitment to Turkish aviation.

The company's 80-year presence began when Turkish Airlines added its first DC-3/C-47 aircraft to its fleet in 1945.

Boeing's impact on Turkish aviation

Boeing has increased its business volume through investments in Türkiye's aviation supply chain while contributing to export and employment growth and supporting Türkiye's ascent in global aviation value chains.

Boeing continues its operations through offices in Ankara and Istanbul and a state-of-the-art engineering and technology center, continually expanding its presence in Türkiye with each passing day.

Strategic partnership and capabilities

Nelson elaborated on Boeing's relationship with Türkiye, noting, "Turkish engineers, Turkish manufacturing industry, and research institutions play active and strategic roles in the world's most advanced technology programs."

"Turkish engineers, Turkish manufacturing industry and research institutions, are playing active and strategic roles in the world's most advanced technology programs," Nelson stated.

More than 350 Boeing aircraft serve Türkiye's leading airline companies, demonstrating the scale of Boeing's partnership with Türkiye.

Boeing's cooperation with Turkish airline companies encompasses flagship aircraft families, including the 737, 777, and 787. These models form the backbone of fleets operated by Turkish Airlines, SunExpress, Corendon Airlines, and Pegasus Airlines.

Beyond commercial aviation, Boeing supplies the Turkish Armed Forces with advanced and proven platforms ranging from the E-7T Peace Eagle to the CH-47F Chinook.

Education and capability development

Boeing continues to invest in talent and capability development in Türkiye through partnerships with Turkish universities, research institutions, and sector organizations.

The Boeing-Türkiye National Aviation Initiative (NAI) demonstrates Boeing's continued commitment to supporting local capability and competitiveness.

Boeing's Türkiye Sustainable Aviation Platform, jointly developed with Turkish Airlines and Istanbul Technical University, reflects the company's commitment to supporting Türkiye's sustainability goals and developing innovative aviation technologies.

Education investment

Boeing Türkiye and Central Asia General Manager Aysem Sargin drew attention to Boeing's role as an important player in Türkiye's aviation ecosystem for over 80 years.

Sargin expressed pride in both increasing Türkiye's contribution to Boeing aircraft and growing Boeing in Türkiye.

"To date, we have contributed over $6 million to education and training programs across the country. Through initiatives like the Newton Mobile Science Workshops and Newton Flight Academy, we are inspiring future generations in aviation and STEM fields," Sargin said.

Boeing's investments in Türkiye extend beyond commercial operations to encompass education, research partnerships, and capability development supporting the country's strategic goals in aviation and advanced technology sectors.
