Türkiye’s Labor and Social Security Ministry released new data that shows a significant jump in unemployment over the past two months.
The report says the number of unemployed people reached 3.75 million in the latest update, compared with 3.75 million in September.
The ministry published the figures in the November 2025 Labor Life Statistics Bulletin. Officials reported 32.49 million people in employment and confirmed abroad unemployment rate abroad of 28.6%.
Weekly working hours also show a clear gender gap, as men work 45.1 hours on average while women work 38.5 hours.
The bulletin says the number of workers reached 17.33 million, while 2.43 million of them hold union membership, bringing the unionization rate to 14.02%.
The report identifies the trade and services sector as employing the largest share of paid workers at 57.1%. Industry follows with 30.6%, while construction accounts for 12.3%.
The ministry lists 25.81 million active social security holders and 16.94 million passive holders. According to the bulletin:
Public sector data shows 3.02 million employees in total. Out of this group, 2.32 million belong to a union. MEMUR-SEN remains the largest public-sector confederation with 1.78 million members. It is followed by Türkiye KAMU-SEN, Birlesik KAMU-IS, and KESK.
