Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy stated that, according to the May 2025 edition of the U.N. World Tourism Organization’s World Tourism Barometer, Türkiye rose from 5th to 4th place in the global ranking of most-visited countries in 2024, surpassing Italy with 56.7 million international visitors.

Based on the World Tourism Organization data, the top five countries in global tourism were France, Spain, the United States, Türkiye and Italy.

Minister also emphasized that this major success is the result of effectively promoting the country’s historical heritage and cultural richness, combined with strong infrastructure and year-round tourism diversity. He added:

“Türkiye is no longer just a country being watched in the tourism sector, it has become a model to follow.”
