The Halal Accreditation Agency (HAK) and the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in the field of halal certification.
Held under the auspices of the presidency, the 11th World Halal Summit and Halal Expo International Trade Fair are taking place at the Istanbul Expo Center.
It is being organized in cooperation with the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC), an affiliated body of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and coordinated by the Ministry of Trade and the Halal Accreditation Agency.
During the summit, organized under the theme “Innovation and Excellence in Halal Trade” and with Anadolu Agency (AA) serving as global communication partner, a key agreement was signed following the opening remarks.
The MoU on halal-sector cooperation was signed by HAK President Zafer Soylu and SFDA senior official and President of the Saudi Halal Center (SHC) Hisham bin Saad Aljadhey.
The agreement covers areas such as sharing expertise on halal products, encouraging mutual visits and meetings, organizing programs, training courses, seminars, and workshops, and facilitating the exchange of information regarding participation in international conferences, forums and events.
Trade Minister Omer Bolat attended the signing ceremony along with Deputy Trade Minister Mustafa Tuzcu, Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Ankara Fahad bin Assaad Abu al-Nasr, and SMIIC Board Chairman and head of the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization, Saad bin Othman Alkasabi.
