Türkiye achieved its highest monthly export performance on record in July, with the automotive industry leading the surge by generating $3.8 billion in overseas sales, according to data from the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM).
The automotive sector's powerful performance was followed by chemicals and chemical products at $3.4 billion and ready-made garments and apparel at $1.6 billion, establishing these as the country's top three export categories for the month.
The defense and aerospace industry recorded the most dramatic growth, with exports surging 128.4% compared to the previous year, though specific dollar amounts for this sector were not disclosed.
Industrial sectors, which account for 72.9% of Türkiye's total exports, generated $18.2 billion in foreign sales during July, marking a 14.4% increase from the same period last year.
The agricultural sector, representing 11.7% of exports, reached $2.9 billion with a 2.6% gain, while mining exports totaled $572 million, up 0.5% and comprising 2.3% of total exports.
Germany remained Türkiye's largest export destination, importing $1.8 billion worth of Turkish goods in July. The United Kingdom ranked second at $1.4 billion, followed by the United Arab Emirates at $1.3 billion.
The export growth was broadly distributed across international markets, with 52 countries showing increases of more than 50% and 107 countries recording gains above 10%. Overall, Türkiye expanded its exports to 137 different countries during the month.
Domestically, Istanbul maintained its position as the leading export hub, generating $9.1 billion in overseas sales. The northwestern province of Kocaeli contributed $2.1 billion, while the capital, Ankara, accounted for $1.7 billion in exports.
July also marked a milestone for business expansion, with 1,180 companies conducting their first international sales. Currency parity effects contributed an additional $825 million to export revenues, bringing the three-month cumulative impact to $1.6 billion.
The record-breaking performance underscores Türkiye's growing integration into global supply chains and the competitiveness of its manufacturing sectors in international markets.
