Turkish steel producer Borusan has struck a sales agreement worth about $567 million with a U.S. company for the supply of large-diameter pipes for a major pipeline project in the U.S., the company announced on Wednesday.

According to a filing to Türkiye’s Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), deliveries will be produced at Borusan Berg Pipe’s facilities in Mobile, Alabama, and Panama City, Florida, and are scheduled to take place throughout 2026.

In a previous filing on Monday, the company disclosed that negotiations were ongoing but did not specify the counterparty.

Pipeline set to unlock major gas output, boost energy flow in US

The Eiger Express Pipeline is a 450-mile (724-kilometer) natural gas line with a diameter of 42 inches, designed to strengthen the connection between production centers and demand hubs in the United States.

Once completed, it will be capable of carrying up to 2.5 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day from the Permian Basin, which spans parts of Texas and New Mexico and is one of the world’s most productive shale gas regions, to the Katy area near Houston, a major distribution hub on the U.S. Gulf Coast.

The project, which remains subject to regulatory approvals, is scheduled to enter service in mid-2028.

Developers expect it to ease transportation bottlenecks from the Permian Basin and support U.S. domestic supply as well as liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports from Gulf Coast terminals.

Borusan expands international footprint through large-scale investments

Borusan first entered the U.S. market in 2014 with a $150 million investment in a steel pipe plant in Houston, Texas, which was later recognized by industry publication American Metal Market for its advanced technology standards.

In April 2023, the company expanded further by acquiring Berg Pipe for $162 million, securing production capacity in Florida and Alabama.

The agreement with Eiger Supply is expected to support Borusan Berg Pipe’s turnover in 2026 and strengthen the group’s presence in the U.S. energy infrastructure market.

Founded in 1958, Borusan Holding is one of Türkiye’s leading industrial groups.

The company operates in 11 countries across three continents, employs about 14,000 people, and reported revenue of ₺55.06 billion ($1.56 billion) in 2024.
