Türkiye’s exports to Syria have exceeded $3 billion, marking a sharp increase compared to previous years, Deputy Trade Minister Ozgur Volkan Agar said.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency in Antalya, Agar said exports to Syria stood at $1.95 billion last year but have now passed the $3 billion mark, representing a 54% increase year-on-year.

Agar said Türkiye’s trade relations with northern Syria expanded further south after the fall of the Assad regime on Dec. 8, 2024, and the establishment of the Damascus administration.

He said trade ties with Syria have developed strongly since then and are expected to grow further as political stability improves.

“As Syria develops further and consolidates its political stability, it will significantly deepen its trade relations with Türkiye and reach much stronger foreign trade figures,” Agar said.

Broader export figures highlighted

Agar made the remarks while attending the Western Mediterranean Exporters Association’s (BAİB) Export Stars Awards Ceremony in Antalya, where exporters from Antalya, Burdur and Isparta were honored.

He said Türkiye’s goods exports reached $261.8 billion in 2024, while annualized goods exports over the past 12 months exceeded $270 billion.

Agar said goods exports reached $270.6 billion in the January–November period.

He added that Türkiye recorded $122.5 billion in services exports on an annualized basis during the same period, bringing total goods and services exports to $393.1 billion as of November.

Agar said export targets for the coming years would be announced at a ceremony in Istanbul on Jan. 3, to be attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, adding that Türkiye aims to exceed current export levels in 2026.
