The Turkish Foreign Ministry announced Thursday that conditions in Sudan continue to deteriorate, emphasizing that its December 27, 2023 travel and security advisory for the conflict-torn nation remains in effect.

In a written statement, the ministry strongly advised Turkish citizens to avoid travel to Sudan unless absolutely necessary and urged those currently in the country to exercise extreme caution.

"Those whose presence in Sudan is not essential are advised to leave the country through the quickest and safest available routes, either via the limited commercial flights still operating from Port Sudan, or by land or sea depending on their location," the statement read.

Turkish officials recommended citizens monitor future announcements through the official websites and social media accounts of both the Foreign Ministry and Turkey's Embassy in Khartoum.

For emergencies, the statement provided contact information for Turkish nationals: "Citizens can reach our Embassy in Khartoum" via emergency channels.

The renewed warning comes amid ongoing violence in Sudan, where fighting between rival military factions has created one of the world's worst humanitarian crises, displacing millions and severely restricting aid access since April 2023.
