The 8th Ethnosport Culture Festival is set to take place in Istanbul from May 21 to 24, bringing together traditional sports, cultural heritage, and community values in a large-scale international gathering at Ataturk Airport.
Organized by the World Ethnosport Confederation, the festival will return for its eighth edition, continuing to grow in global reach while offering visitors a hands-on cultural experience that goes beyond a conventional event format.
Rather than remaining a passive exhibition, the festival invites visitors to actively take part in its program, transforming the venue into what organizers describe as a lived cultural environment.
Traditional sports such as archery and horseback riding will be available for direct participation, while workshops will allow visitors to engage with craftsmanship and production processes. Alongside these, stage performances, traditional games, and culinary experiences aim to connect historical practices with contemporary audiences in an accessible way.
The festival continues to position itself as an international platform, bringing together participants from different regions and cultural backgrounds in Istanbul.
Through country-specific activities and presentations, visitors will be able to explore a wide spectrum of traditions, ranging from everyday life practices to artistic expressions. The setup will include themed areas such as nomadic-style tent settlements and experiential zones, offering insight into traditional lifestyles and cultural narratives.
A key focus of the festival lies in its inclusive structure, which is designed to appeal to visitors of all ages and backgrounds.
Dedicated areas for children, interactive games, and shared family activities form a central part of the program, while accessible workshops and performances aim to ensure participation for disadvantaged groups.
Specially designed areas within the festival highlight the role of families in passing down cultural heritage from one generation to the next.
By encouraging shared experiences, the event seeks to strengthen collective memory and a sense of belonging.
