Ancient Hierapolis theater to host Italy-Türkiye friendship concert with 2 culture ministers

The ancient theater of Hierapolis in Türkiye's western Denizli province will host an Italy-Türkiye Friendship Concert on Oct. 13, bringing together the two countries' culture ministers for the opening of an international archaeology symposium focused on scientific discoveries and bilateral cooperation.

The concert, scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m., will open the 17th Italian Cultural Institute Archaeology Symposium, organized under the auspices of the Italian Cultural Institute in Istanbul and the Italian Embassy in Ankara.

Italian Culture Minister Alessandro Giuli, Turkish Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy and Italian Ambassador to Türkiye Giuseppe Manzo are expected to attend, alongside representatives from political, diplomatic and academic circles.

Italian violinist to lead orchestra at ancient Hierapolis

Internationally recognized Italian violinist Riccardo Zamuner will take the stage as both conductor and soloist, performing alongside the Izmir State Symphony Orchestra.

The program will feature compositions by Delphin Alard and Gioachino Rossini, as well as Telli Turna, a work by Turkish composer Nevit Kodalli.

The concert will be open to the public, with the ancient theater serving as the setting for a musical event intended to strengthen cultural ties between Italy and Türkiye.

Archaeology symposium to examine Italian research in Türkiye

Following the concert, the symposium's academic sessions will take place on Oct. 14 at Pamukkale University in Denizli.

Held under the theme Discoveries, Results and Cooperation: Italian Archaeological Missions in Türkiye Between Research Continuity and Development, the sessions will bring together discussions on archaeological projects carried out by Italian research teams across Türkiye.

Hosted at the Professor Ismail Cetisli Conference Hall in the university's Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the program will focus on scientific discoveries, ongoing archaeological research, and academic cooperation between the two countries.
