The 16th Antalya Book Fair in southern Türkiye welcomed a record 1,173,627 visitors over 10 days, bringing together readers, authors and publishers under the theme "Read, Write the Future."

Organized by Antalya Metropolitan Municipality at the Cam Piramit Fair and Congress Center, the event broke its previous attendance record, according to Deputy Mayor Busra Ozdemir, who announced the figures during the closing ceremony.

The ceremony brought together authors, publishing house representatives and readers, marking the conclusion of the annual literary event.

Antalya Book Fair sets new attendance record

Ozdemir said the fair had become Türkiye's most visited book fair relative to the population of its host city, attributing its growth to the municipality's cultural initiatives.

She noted that the event had attracted readers of all ages, from children and young people to older residents, while providing opportunities to meet authors and publishers throughout the 10-day program.

Reflecting on the fair's development, Ozdemir said its expanding audience demonstrated the city's growing engagement with literature, research and cultural activities.

"We broke our own record once again. Our only competitor is ourselves," she said, confirming the attendance figure of 1,173,627.

Next Antalya Book Fair scheduled for October 2027

Speaking about this year's theme, "Read, Write the Future," Ozdemir emphasized the importance of encouraging young people to read, explore new ideas and develop their curiosity.

She added that the municipality would continue supporting reading and cultural activities in Antalya.

Ozdemir also confirmed that the 17th Antalya Book Fair will take place from Oct. 1 to 10, 2027, with preparations already underway.
