Organized by Bilgili Sanat and Sabiha Kurtulmus, the 12th edition of “Artweeks Istanbul” has opened its doors at Akaretler row houses and The Ritz-Carlton Residences Istanbul.
Designed to build bridges between artists, galleries and institutions, the program welcomes visitors with a compact route that brings exhibitions under one umbrella while keeping the city’s broader art scene in view.
Event organizers underlined that Artweeks Istanbul positions itself as a support model for the sector and seeks to grow audiences across Türkiye.
Bilgili Holding’s Director of Art and Culture, Begum Guney, said the program spreads across two venues and focuses on Turkish art galleries.
She noted that there are 38 participants this year and that visitors will see curated exhibitions, brand partnerships, and gallery selections presented side by side.
She added that the team is staging two major solo shows within the program.
Guney emphasized that the initiative aims to create visibility and room for different actors in the industry, stressing that the key goal is to help develop art audiences and expand the community. “Let everyone be part of Artweeks,” she said.
This edition features “Six Photographs,” a photography exhibition by Bulent Eczacibasi; “FloreLuctus,” a project by artist Cem Guventurk; and “Tamera,” a retrospective by Tamer Yilmaz curated by Izzeddin Calislar.
These presentations anchor the schedule and sit alongside gallery programs that span painting, photography, installation, and new media.
Among the galleries, artists, and institutions taking part are Ambidexter, Artopol Art Gallery, ArtHan Gallery, Baksi Museum, Bilgili Art, Siyah Beyaz Gallery, Galerist, Gallery G-Art, Imoga Art Space, Istanbul Concept Gallery, Martch Art Project, MERKUR, Mine Art Gallery, Oktem Aykut, Pi Artworks, Red Art Istanbul, Sanatorium, Taksim Art, UZ Gallery, Versus Art Project, and X-IST, among others.
Alongside exhibitions and installations, the program includes “ArtTalks” panel sessions intended to foster cross-disciplinary dialogue on art.
A new “Curation Space” also debuts this year, giving independent young curators a chance to present their own selections and curatorial approaches. The event runs through Oct. 26.
