The Diagoras Pyramid Tomb in Mugla, one of Türkiye’s rare surviving examples of a pyramid-roofed monumental burial structure, has been illuminated and opened to visitors during nighttime hours following the completion of conservation and landscaping works.

The project, carried out under the supervision of the Marmaris Museum Directorate with approval from the Mugla Cultural Heritage Preservation Regional Board, was supported by the Marmaris Chamber of Commerce.

The initiative aimed to enhance both the preservation of the ancient structure and the visitor experience at the site.

As part of the works, a new lighting system was installed to highlight the architectural form of the tomb after sunset, making the monument visible and visually prominent at night.

Walking routes and viewing platforms were also constructed around the site, while additional protective measures were implemented to ensure the long-term preservation of the structure.

The monument, known as Diagoras’s Pyramid Tomb, is considered a significant archaeological heritage asset in the region and is associated with the ancient cultural landscape of Hydas.

The site has long attracted interest due to its distinctive pyramid-shaped design and its historical inscriptions.

Officials stated that the improvements were designed to provide safer and more structured access for visitors while minimizing environmental and structural impact on the site.
