Gipsy Kings by Andre Reyes will return to Türkiye this summer as part of the "Viva El Arte" tour, bringing the group’s flamenco- and Latin-infused repertoire back to audiences in three major cities.
Organized by Piu Entertainment, the tour will begin on July 3 at the Cultural Park Open-Air Theater in Izmir, continue on July 4 at the Harbiye Cemil Topuzlu Open-Air Theater in Istanbul, and wrap up on July 5 at the Oran Open-Air Stage in Ankara.
The group is widely known for songs including "Bamboleo," "Volare," "Djobi Djoba" and "Baila Baila," tracks that helped turn its sound into an international reference point for flamenco-pop and Latin music. In this lineup, that legacy is being carried forward under the leadership of Andre Reyes.
The roots of the group go back to 1978, when members of a nomadic community who had fled Spain during the civil war of the 1930s and later resettled in southern France came together to form Gipsy Kings.
The band went on to break out internationally with its 1987 self-titled album, which helped bring its Catalan Rumba style to a much wider audience. Catalan Rumba is a guitar-led style that blends flamenco with upbeat popular rhythms, and it became central to the group’s crossover appeal.
Over time, the band also became known for reworking well-known English-language songs in its own style, including versions of "I’ve Got No Strings," "Hotel California" and "My Way." Those reinterpretations helped broaden its reach and introduced new listeners to its signature sound.
Its international standing was further reinforced through multiple Grammy nominations, along with critical recognition for albums such as Love and Liberte and Savor Flamenco.
With the upcoming Türkiye dates, Gipsy Kings by Andre Reyes is set to bring that long-established catalog and musical identity back to local audiences through a three-night run in Izmir, Istanbul and Ankara.
