History Channel has ended its broadcasts in Türkiye, closing a chapter that began in 2006 as the channel aired its final program on Dec. 31, 2025.

A message on screen thanked viewers for their support before the signal went off. The decision marks the end of almost 20 years of continuous presence in the Turkish television market.

During that period, the channel built a loyal audience with history focused documentaries and research programs.

History Channel launched its Türkiye broadcast in 2006 as part of its international expansion. The channel became a regular destination for viewers interested in historical storytelling and documentary formats.

Its programming covered a wide range of subjects. These included ancient civilizations, world wars, Ottoman history, and major political turning points in the modern era. The channel gained recognition for presenting history through long form documentaries rather than daily news or entertainment driven formats.

According to reports in Turkish media, the channel did not announce a detailed explanation for ending its broadcasts. The on air farewell message only expressed gratitude to viewers.

History Channel first began broadcasting in the United States in 1995. It operates under the umbrella of A+E Networks, a major international media group.

Over time, the channel expanded across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. The Türkiye launch formed part of that broader strategy. For years, the local feed remained part of pay television packages and reached audiences interested in documentary content.
