Invited by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and sponsored by Turkish Airlines (THY), Japanese artist Tomoko Yamaguchi visited the Sanliurfa Archaeology Museum during a trip to southeastern Türkiye.
According to the Sanliurfa Governor’s Office, Governor Hasan Sildak welcomed the guest and guided her through the museum, where he shared information about the artifacts on display.
In remarks shared by the Governor’s Office, Hasan Sildak linked the visit to ongoing efforts to raise the city’s global profile in culture and tourism.
He said Sanliurfa is steadily moving toward becoming a “rising star” for culture and tourism in the country, adding that work by the Ministry, the Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (often referred to by its English initials, TGA), and local initiatives is paying off. In his words, “Sanliurfa tourism is truly open to the world.”
Governor Sildak noted that hosting a prominent figure from Japan underlines the goal of drawing more visitors from the Far East and Europe.
He emphasized that the city aims to build on ministry-backed programs and local partnerships to widen its reach, stating that authorities “want to increase the number of visitors coming, especially from the Far East and Europe.”
Provincial Culture and Tourism Director Aydin Aslan and Sanliurfa Museum Director Celal Uludag also took part in the visit. Yamaguchi expressed satisfaction with the tour, according to the statement.
