The Netherlands is set to take part in the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest, despite Dutch public broadcaster AVROTROS pulling out of the competition earlier this year over concerns about the contest's neutrality, Dutch broadcaster RTL reported Wednesday.
AVROTROS withdrew in August after concluding that Eurovision was no longer sufficiently neutral amid continuing geopolitical tensions.
The broadcaster also said measures put forward by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), which organizes the annual song contest, did not go far enough to address its concerns.
Following its withdrawal, AVROTROS handed responsibility for the Netherlands' Eurovision participation back to the country's public broadcasting organization, NPO, leaving the country's involvement in the 2027 contest uncertain.
According to RTL, however, the Netherlands will now return to the competition.
The development follows the country's absence from Eurovision in 2026, when the Netherlands stayed out of the contest for the first time in 24 years, citing Israel's participation and the consequences of the war in Gaza.
Spain, Ireland, Iceland and Slovenia also withdrew from the 2026 competition, although Dutch public broadcaster NOS continued to air the event.

The 2027 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to take place in Burgas, Bulgaria, with the semifinals set for May 11 and May 13, followed by the final on May 15.
Ireland has already confirmed that it will not take part in the 2027 contest, while Spain is reportedly considering another boycott.
