American rapper and music producer Sean "Diddy" Combs has been transferred from a federal prison in New Jersey to a low-security facility in Pennsylvania following reports that he maintained a privileged lifestyle behind bars and was injured in a fight.
A person familiar with the matter told the Associated Press (AP) that the U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) was in the process of moving the 56-year-old music mogul from FCI Fort Dix to FCI Allenwood Low, a federal correctional institution south of Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
The source spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the transfer publicly.
The transfer follows a September report by NBC News alleging that Combs continued to enjoy some of the privileges associated with his former millionaire lifestyle while serving his sentence at Fort Dix.
According to the report, Combs allegedly arranged for expensive alcoholic beverages to be smuggled into the prison and had other inmates prepare his meals, clean his living space and make his bed.
He was also reportedly receiving massages and using a contraband cellphone to access social media, including viewing photographs of one of his former girlfriends.
Separate reports indicated that Combs had been injured in a fight at the facility, although the information provided did not establish whether the alleged privileges or the incident directly prompted his transfer.
Combs was found guilty on July 2, 2025, of prostitution-related offenses involving the transportation of women across state lines for sexual activity.
He was subsequently sentenced to four years and two months in federal prison.
The high-profile trial brought forward testimony about alleged violence and sexual encounters that Combs referred to as "freak-offs," drawing widespread attention to the criminal proceedings against one of the music industry's most influential figures.
The move to FCI Allenwood Low places Combs in another low-security federal facility as he continues serving his sentence.
