The second edition of the“Türkiye International AI Film Festival (T-AIFF), organized with Marmara University Faculty of Communication, has officially begun.
At the opening ceremony, Dean Mehmet Emin Babacan highlighted how AI is transforming everything humanity has known. He emphasized that the festival showcases not just technology, but also deeper questions about humanity and the future. Babacan stressed the importance of connecting young filmmakers with experienced professionals and strengthening collaboration between academia and the film industry.
Professor Filiz Aydogan Boschele, festival coordinator, noted that AI development aligns with Türkiye’s national goals and strategic plans.
Festival director Dr. Bahadir Kapir said this year’s edition received 1,400 submissions from 100 countries, up from 1,091 entries from 94 countries last year, demonstrating strong global interest.
The opening film was Alkan Avcioglu’s “Post Truth”. First-day workshops included “Cinematic Production with AI” by Erim Sisman and “Creative Production with Generative AI Tools” by Omer Safa Umar.
On Wednesday, screenings will feature the “Non-Competition Special Selection” and international finalists for Best Fiction Short AI Film and Best Animated Short AI Film. Negin Piran will conduct a workshop on Next-Generation Film Production.
The festival will host a Runway Meet-Up to showcase collaborative tools. National competition finalists will screen on Dec. 11, alongside a workshop on "AI-Assisted Pre-Production" by Bora Tasci and Omur Uygun.
The festival will conclude with a special Gaza showcase featuring 10 AI-created films on Palestine, followed by the awards ceremony on Dec. 11.
