The new animated movie Super Mario, which will be shot in cooperation with the U.S.-based animation producer Illumination, will be released in April 2026, according to the Japanese console and game manufacturer Nintendo.

Universal Pictures, the parent company of Nintendo and Illumination, will finance the sequel to the first “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” which was released in April 2023.
“We are thinking of expanding Mario’s world even more. It will have a bright and fun story,” Miyamoto Shigeru, one of the designers of the Mario series and Nintendo Representative Director, said in a statement
Nintendo released the game in 1983 under the name “Mario Bros” and in 1985 under the name “Super Mario Bros.”
It was first introduced to game enthusiasts in Japan and North America, then Europe and Türkiye.
