Syrian Information Minister Hamza al-Mustafa met Tuesday with Türkiye’s ambassador to Damascus, Nuh Yilmaz, to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation and exploring ways to draw on Türkiye’s experience, particularly in digital media.
The comments came during al-Mustafa’s meeting with Ambassador Yilmaz at the ministry’s headquarters in Damascus, according to Syria’s state news agency SANA.
Al-Mustafa said the meeting was a “promising start” for developing relations between the two countries and expanding the exchange of expertise between their media institutions.
He said Syria is keen to benefit “significantly” from Türkiye’s experience, particularly in digital media, through various means.
The Syrian minister also expressed “deep appreciation” for Türkiye, citing what he described as its efforts in supporting Syrians during the uprising.
Yilmaz, for his part, praised the strength of ties between the two countries, saying they “surpass” those between many other states.
He said both sides are working to make the relationship “more structured, lasting, interconnected and sustainable” in the period ahead.
Last week, the Turkish ambassador said in a post on X that relations between Ankara and Damascus are making “notable progress” across all fields.
The talks come as an extension of earlier contacts. In July 2025, Türkiye’s Presidential Directorate of Communications said its delegation discussed with officials at Syria’s Ministry of Information opportunities for cooperation in the fields of communications, media and information.
