Thee Sacred Souls took the stage at Harbiye Cemil Topuzlu Open-Air Theater as part of the 33rd Istanbul Jazz Festival, bringing their modern soul sound to audiences in Türkiye for the first time.

The concert, organized under the festival program of the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV), opened with The Los Angeles League of Musicians, or LA LOM.

The group set the tone for the evening with a performance blending cumbia, surf rock and Latin jazz influences.

Modern soul takes over Harbiye

The main act of the night, Thee Sacred Souls, performed a set featuring some of their best-known songs, including "Price I'll Pay," "Love Is the Way," "It's Our Love," "Let Me Feel Your Charm," "Can I Call You Rose?," "Weak for Your Love" and "Future Lover."

Formed in San Diego, the band brought together vocalist Josh Lane, drummer Alex Garcia and bassist Sal Samano on the Istanbul stage. Their performance marked a notable stop in the festival's program, which is bringing nearly 200 artists together across different venues in the city over 14 days.

Josh Lane points to love amid global conflicts

During the concert, Lane addressed the audience by drawing attention to wars and humanitarian tragedies around the world. He said people were living at a time marked by hate, division, death and war, adding that many were afraid to recognize love as a powerful force.

He then told the crowd: "I think love is the strongest weapon we have against the bombs and genocides in Palestine, Congo, Sudan and Yemen. The strongest weapon we have is our love and enjoying each other's company in love."

The festival continues to host performances across Istanbul, bringing local and international artists together for audiences throughout the city.
