The Turkish film industry has witnessed a remarkable success with the local adaptation of the French classic "Intouchables." "Yan Yana," which premiered on Nov. 14, has quickly become one of the most talked-about releases of the year. Box office numbers and audience interest indicate a renewed demand for cinema experiences in Türkiye.

The Turkish adaptation tells the story of an unlikely friendship between a wealthy businessman and a young caretaker. Veteran actor Haluk Bilginer and rising star Feyyaz Yigit share the screen for the first time in this emotionally rich comedy-drama. The screenplay has been rewritten to reflect Türkiye’s social and cultural realities, making the story feel familiar and relatable to local audiences.
The film follows Kerem, a wealthy man who becomes wheelchair-bound after an accident, and Mert, a young man with an energetic and humorous outlook on life. Yan Yana attracted over 203,000 viewers during its opening weekend, making it the strongest opening for a Turkish film in 2025 and surpassing previous local box office records.
In its first week, nearly half a million viewers watched the film. According to Box Office Türkiye, over 2 million tickets have been sold so far, generating more than ₺231 million ($5.41 million) in revenue in just 12 days. By the fifth week, the film maintained its position at the top, reaching more than 2.2 million viewers in total.
"Yan Yana" is the first Turkish film to be released in Image Maximum (IMAX) format. Offering a larger screen and superior sound, the IMAX experience attracted audiences looking for technical innovation. This step demonstrates the potential for local productions to meet modern global cinema standards.
The film has received widespread attention from both audiences and critics. Its box office performance, combined with increasing social media buzz, has made it one of the year’s most discussed films. Experts highlight the story’s unique friendship, its balance of humor and drama, and its emotional depth as key factors behind its success.
Long lines at cinemas and strong ticket sales confirm that Yan Yana is one of the most popular Turkish films of 2025.
